- case study of Rwanda
- 10% of population killed in 1994
- radio communication fuelled the conflict
- various stratergies designed to reduce prejudice between groups, addressing isssues of: mistrust, lack of communication and interaction etc
- year long field study
- examining effects of the radio programme on: beliefs, perceptions of social norms and behaviours
- found groups who listened to the programmes were more likely to negotiate and cooperate with the other group
