Risks of measles in pregnancy?

A

fetal loss, pre-term delivery
NO evidence of congenital defects
maternal morbidity due to pneumonitis

How to manage measles contact in pregnancy?

A

If unvaccinated and ab neg OR single vaccination AND/OR no previous infx - offer HNIG
Can be used up to 6 days from exposure

Which fetuses need HNIG PEP?

A

Neonates with recent in utero exposure - e.g. those born to mothers who develop a measles rash 6 days before to 6 days after delivery

Infants < 6months who have had significant exposure
Passive maternal immunity only lasts 2-3 months
