Maxillary artery Flashcards

1
Q

How can damage to anterior branch of middle meningeal artery lead to paralysis of opposite half of the body?

A

Damage causes extradural hematoma since it is extradural as are all the branches of the maxillary artery including the artery itself. This compresses the precentral gyrus which is the motor area, leading to contralateral paralysis
