Q

State the roots of the ciliary ganglion and their preganglionic origins

A

Parasympathetic: by Nerve to inferior oblique from oculomotor inferior division which originates in the Edinger of Westphal nucleus
Sympathetic: by T1 spinal segment lateral horn
Sensory: by nasociliary nerve (they don’t synapse in any ganglion so there is no classification of preganglionic)

Q

Which fibers related to ciliary ganglion form a plexus around internal carotid artery?

A

The postganglionic fibers from cervical ganglion after preganglionic fibers from lateral horn of T1 spinal segment synapse at the superior cervical ganglion
