what are the features of mastoiditis?
A
- otalgia: severe, behind ear
- hx of recurrent otitis media
- fever
- very unwell
- swelling, erythema, tenderness over mastoid process
- external ear may protrude forwards
- ear d/c may be present if eardrum has perforated

what are the complications of mastoiditis?
A
- meningitis due to intracranial spread
- cranial nerve palsies
- hearing loss
- osteomyelitis
- carotid artery spasm
