emergency referrals

what are the conditions in which it is advised by NICE CKS to refer immediately to an emergency department (within 24 hours)?

Answer 1

1. sudden onset (≤3 days) unilateral/bilateral HL which has occurred within the past 30 days and cannot be explained by external or middle ear causes
2. unilateral HL associated with focal neurology e.g. altered sensation, facial droop
3. HL associated with head/neck injury
4. HL associated with severe infection e.g. necrotising OE, Ramsay Hunt syndrome
