Mason Consults/Group Flashcards
2 Mason suggestions for working with clients that just want to tell their story right away
- Contact the urgency (it can help them slow down) and importance of them telling me/me being with them
- Saying “You’re more that welcome to go with the story but I’m wondering if you want…”
What to do when people pop out of mindfulness (2 things)
- The first couple times it happens, just bring them back to mindfulness
- After that, you can contact the pattern of popping out with a sense of curiosity/non-judgmentalism
What kind of homework does Mason give clients? What are two examples of this?
Homework to help the client reorganize their body
- For example, stand against the wall 10 minutes a day.
- Laying on a foam roller – working with gravity to open the chest. Allow the body to unfold
Where does Mason generally start with mindfulness questions and then where does he go next?
Mason always starts with body. Then he tries to expand so they are aware of sensations throughout the body.
Two example questions to ask a client when they want to work with trauma but only have a vague sense of what it may be?
- What in your body tells you that you might have trauma?
- And what happens right now in your body as you tell me?
How to use modelling to show clients that they can experience their painful emotions and be OK
As the therapist take on all the things he’s saying and show the genuine emotion and then model going there
