MARPOL Annex 1 Flashcards
What Vessels shall be fitted with OFE?
Any vessels over 400GT shall be fitted with Oil Filtering Equipment
What are the requirments for OFE with an alarm and auto shutdown?
Any vessel over 10,000GT
Alarm/Auto shutdown when:
Oil content of effluent exceeds 15PPM
Machinery space - Discharge of oil
- Ship is en route
- Oily mixture is processed through OFE
- The effluent without dilution does not exceed 15ppm
- On OIL TANKERS the mixure does not originate from cargo pump room bilges
- On OIL TANKERS the mixture is not mixed with cargo residues
Machinery space - Discharge of oil in special areas
Same control measures with the addition of an alarm and auto shutdown on the OFE regardless of GT
Discharge into the Antarctic sea is prohibited
