A
natural wood combined with adhesives to make large sheets of wood

Properties and uses of medium density fibreboard
A
- made from tiny fibres of softwood timber held together by glue
- no natural grain
- cheap, dense, smooth surface which takes paint/ finishes well
- used in shelves and flat- pack furniture
- can be damaged by moisture

A
-made up of several layers of softwood and hardwood, glued together at right angles to one another
- structure makes it very strong for its weight and thickness
- used for building and furniture

A
- not water resistant/ absorbent
- made by compressing wood chips, shavings, sawdust together with glue
- cheap, not very strong
- used in cheap low end furniture
