a phrase coined in 1845, is the idea that the United States is destined by God, to expand its dominion and spread democracy and capitalism across the entire North American continent.

Mexican War: Cause and Effect
Cause: President Polk sent the U.S army to blockade the Rio Grande River which causes a war between the United States and Mexico
Effect: Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo gave almost half of Mexico’s land to the United States. The United States bought more land from Mexico.
Texas Revolution: Cause and Effect
Cause: American settlers were coming to Texas with cultural issues and bringing slavery which Mexico was trying to free their slaves.
Effect: The texas revolution broke out in which a small Texan force tried to defend the Alamo. The Mexicans killed all 187 of the Americans. Under their commander Sam Houston, the Texans captured Santa Anna and won their independence
