Lymphatics Flashcards
B lymphocytes originate and differentiate where? T-Lymphocytes?
B= O and D in bone marrow T= O in bone marrow D in thymus
What are primary and secondary lymphoid structures?
Primary=Bone marrow and Thymus
Secondary= all others
What lines the lymphatic vessels?
Endothelial cells
How many lymph sacs are there? what are they called?
6 main sacs
- Jugular=2
- Iliac=2
- Retroperitineal=1
- Cistern chyli=1
What is vasculogenesis? Angiogenesis?
Vasculogenesis=Formation of new vessels
Angiogenesis= Formation of vessels from budding off a pre-existing vessel.
How do lymphatic vessels develop?
Both my vasculogenesis and angiogenesis.
What are the two main ducts? What are their fates?
Jugular and thoracic ducts. They eventually join.
Lymph nodes have what charactersitics? (vessels, capsule, GC, Cortex, Medulla)?
- efferent and afferent vessels,
- Germinal Centers,
- Capsule,
- Cortex and Medulla.
The thymus has what characteristics? (vessels, capsule, GC, Cortex, Medulla)?
- efferent vessels
- Thin capsule,
- Germinal Centers,
- Cortex, No Medulla.
The Spleen has what characteristics? ( capsule, GC, Cortex, Medulla)?
- Thick capsule
- Germinal centers
- No cortex or Medulla,
- White and Red pulp
MALT Peyer’s Patches have what characteristics? ( capsule, GC, Cortex, Medulla)?
- No Capsule
- Germinal Centers
- NO Cortex or Medulla
White pulp contains what? Red pulp?
White=Germinal centers
Red=RBC stores
MALT definition? BALT? GALT
Associated Lymphatic Tissue
M=Mucosal
G= Gut
B= Brochial
