Q

In the Czech twin study what did koluchova report

A

Koluchova reported a case of twin boys. The twins lost my mother just after birth and we cared for in an institution for you, and then they were cared for by an answer for the following six months. This first 18 months they seem to follow normal development. The father then remarried, and 18 months the twins went to live with her father, new stepmother and her four children

Q

In the check twin study when were they found and what was wrong with them

A

The twins were found at age 7, in a poor condition. They had Ricketts, they were small for her age and could not to talk and recognise pictures-so an IQ test was not possible. Developmentally, they were said to be at the stage of a three road and it was predicted they would not fully recover and would remain behind intellectually

Q

What happened to the check twins by the age of 15 and 20

A

By the age of 15 they had normal IQs. By 20 they had above average IQs and went on to further education and training electronics

Q

In 1991 what was said about the Czech twins

A

She reported on them again in 1991 where she found they were able to form close relationships, and they both went on to marry and have children. One of the twins was a technical training instructor, and one was a computer technician

Q

Why does the check twin study have high validity

A

The study was definitely measuring the effects of probation of the twins showed normal development when they left the care of their aunts at 18 months. This means that when they were found to be behind in the development at the age of five years, this could be said to be because of the privation experience, there was a normal baseline against which to measure their progress

Q

How can the validity of the Czech twins be questioned

A

The validity to be questioned as it has been suggested that the boys actually suffered from deprivation rather than probation. This is because they could have attached to each other which may have explained why they were able to catch up and develop normally

Q

What is the strength of the track twins

A

As the study was languages now in design, this allowed for a cause-and-effect relationship about probation to be concluded. The development of the twins could be tracks over many years, for example we know that the twins married and have children. Shows a case study would not have documented that any later development. This means drawing conclusions that privation is reversible is possible

Q

What is the general criticism of the Czech twin study

A

It has been argued that it can never be completely known what life was like for the boys know they are adults, they may not be happy and well adjusted adults. Forgot what information about underlying anxiety is my not been uncovered even now that they’re adults

Q

What does research evidence from the Genie case study show about probation bring reversible

A

Case study into Jeannie found for her probation was not reversible because she did not develop typical language used, social behaviour of physical development for her age. Although, from the study it could be argued that her probation was partly reversible because her development of some language, she did develop attachments to Key figures in her life and develop some social skills . However, the sleep spindle studies completed on Jeannie suggested that she was meant to be retarded from birth, so lack of reversibility could be due to her learning difficulties. Suggesting that all what was thought to be effects of probation was actually caused by severe learning difficulties from birth

Q

What does the coast study on the check to ensure its about privation be reversible

A

The case study of the check twins should reversibility of the effects of probation due to high quality of care for by the individuals who care for them. Compare to the check twins genie showed poorer outcomes of reversibility despite good quality care, possibly due to the fact that she needed not have a sibling to form attachment with. It has been argued that the check twins probably only recovered from deprivation as they were able to form good attachment to one another. Check twins were also found an earlier age and uni meaning this could have affected the likelihood of reversibility

Q

Give one methodological issue from using research to see about the effects of probation be reversible in terms of number of cases

A

As there are only a limited number of case studies which have investigated the issue of reversibility, it is difficult to accurately state whether privation can be truly and permanently reversed.

Q

Give one methodological issue from using research to see about the effects of probation be reversible in terms of application

A

Privation gathered by these case studies may not apply to other individuals as for example Jean’s condition was unique and you cannot generalise the results to the wider population is. Therefore we cannot be certain of reversibility as all individuals respond to different situations in many ways.

It is often difficult to establish the conditions that children in Jude prior to being discovered to fully understand whether The effects of probation are reversible

Q

Gift for different factors that may affect the reversibility probation

A

Quality of care, Age sound, severity of promotion and individual differences

17
Q

How many quality of care effect to the reversibility of probation

A

Reversibility can depend on the quality of care to children subsequently received. The check twins received excellent care from Loving sisters and my able to recover. Jeannie has poor substitute her once she is back in foster care cycle and consequently did not recover

18
Q

How my age found affect the reversibility of privation

A

Reversibility of probation depends on the length of isolation. The check twins were found At age 7 and made a good recovery, where is Jenny was found at age 13 and did not. Jeannie could have been found beyond the sensitive period of development

19
Q

How may the severity of probation affect the reversibility of it

A

The check twins may have recovered from the effects of probation because they formed attachments to each other and their aunt, therefore were not truly prorated. Jeannie was totally alone and was unable to recover

20
Q

How many individual differences affect the reversibility of probation

A

Jeannie was believed to be retarded from birth which could account for the lack of reversibility in her case. However others would argue that her development in the first year after being found indicated she did not have learning difficulties

21
Q

What is the definition of privation

A

Privatisation is a lack of an attachment figure, where an attachment has never formed. Cases of severe neglect such as Jeannie show probation as it is said that she never had the opportunity to bond with her parents and she was isolated from family members from a very young age
