Features of LRTI?
48 hrs, fever (>38.5oC), SOB, cough, grunting
- REDUCED OR BRONICAL BS
Signs of pneumonia? (3)
focal (LLZ)
- crepitations
- high fever
Investigations for community acquired pneumonia?
CBC, pulse oximetry, sputum an blood cultures
First line treatment?
Oral Amoxycillin first line
Oral Macrolide second choice
- when child is not vomiting
LRTI vs Bronchiolitis
LRTI - all ages, rapid onset symptoms, fever
Bronchiolitis - <12 days - 3 days before peak symptoms
- rarely have fever
Features of Pertussis?
Coughing fits
Vomiting and colour change
cough more than 2 weeks
