ILIOPSOAS
Contents of Femoral Triangle & Functons (plus order lateral to medial)
NAVEL
*nerve/art/vein/empty/lymph nodes
FEMORAL ART (Ext. Iliac. Art.)
FEMORAL. VEIN. (grat saphenous vein and popliteal vein)
FEMORAL N = innervates the anterior compartment of the thigh, and provides sensory branches for the leg and foot.
Passage of the femoral artery
Arises at the infuinal ligament as a cont. of the ext iliac artery
Passes the thigh midway betwen the anterior iliac spine and the pubic symphysis
The profunda femoris is the deep artery
What are the main motor nerves of the lumbar plexus supplying the lower limb
OBTURATOR NERVE
* medial thigh
FEMORAL N.
* anterior thigh
both L2, L3, L4 roots
Identify a main sensory n of the lumbar plex. supplying LLimb
LATERAL CUTANEOUS FEMORAL
(L2, L3)
*anterior+lateral thgh down to knee
Lumbar Plexus In-Situ
OBTURATOR N (most medial) often travels most vertically
FEMORAL N.: thickest
Genitofemoral: thinner and closely associated with femoral
Lateral Femoral Cutaneous: alone and will diagonally go towards inguinal ligament
Where is the lumbar plexus found?
The lumbar plexus lies within the psoas major muscle, between its anterior and posterior masses.
Sciatic Nerve
roots of L4-S3 - it’s thick and it goes to the knee
runs through the buttock and down the lower limb.
one of the main branches of the sacral plexus
divides into the TIBIAL N. & COMMON. FIBULAR N. at the popliteal fossa
*largest N in-situ
Pedundal N.
(S2-S4)
innervates perineum and pelvic floor
*most medial in-situ
Superior Gluteal N.
(L4-S1) - a whore and judging nuns (bc of bums)
innervates G. Medius, G. Minimus, Tensor Fasciae Latae
*most supero-lateral in-situ
Inferior Gluteal N.
(L5-S2) - on IG live I did a poo (also showed my ass)
innervates only Gluteus Maximus
*inferior to superior gluteal N. in-situ
Nerve to Piriformis & Posterior Femoral Cutaneous N. In-Situ
N to Piriformis is in between Sciatic and Inf. Gluteal N.
whereas Post. Femoral Cutaneous N. is found in between Sciatic N and Pudendal
What are the 2 superficial veins of the LL
GREAT SAPHENOUS VEIN = runs medially along the LL calf
AND
LESSER SAPHENOUS VEIN = runs at the back of the calf
*begin from dorsal venous arch
Which superficial vein empties into the femoral vein?
G. saphenous + POPLITEAL VEIN
