Liver is unable to turn unconjugated bilirubin to conjugated so the free bilirubin escapes into blood
What is cirrhosis
fibrotic due to injury cuased by drug, alcohol, virus and becomes nodular

obese, diabeteic, HTN, lipids
T/F NAFLD is reversible

Obstructions such as inflammation, cancer, gallstones
What is intrahepatic cholestasis?
bile not going through the duct in the liver

bile or bile salts cause Increased irritation which also leads to poor absorb of fat
How to treat intrahepatic cholestasis?
surgery or Cholestyramine( reduces cholesterol), ursodeoxycholic
WHat is cholelithiasis
gallstones cuased by cholesterol precipitating out
How to treat gallastones
ursodiol= increases solubility of cholesterol
What is cholecystitis
secondary infection or inflammation of the gallbladder. can cause or be the cause of gallstones
What are the symptoms of liver disease
jaundice, abdominal swelling, pain, itch
