What is sex-linkage?
Genes found on sex chromosomes

X-linked
Why do males express the characteristic even if it recessive?
They only have one allele for sex linked genes
What is a carrier?
An individual not expressing the phenotype but the alleles can be passed on to offspring
What is an autosome?
Any chromosome that isn’t a sex chromosome
When are genes linked?
When they appear on the same autosome
What are autosomal genes?
Genes located on an autosome
Why will linked genes be inherited together?
They will stay together during independent segregation
When will linked genes not be inherited together?
if they are separated during crossing over
The closer the linked genes…
The less likely they are to be separated during crossing over
How do you calculate the actual ratio of the offspring?
Divide all numbers by the smallest number
How can you tell if genes are linked?
If they produce the highest amount of offspring
