What is an ecosystem?
All of the organisms living in a community plus all of the non-living (abiotic) conditions in the area which they live
What are biotic conditions?
Living features of an ecosystem
What are some examples of biotic conditions?
Presence of predators/food
What are abiotic conditions?
Non-Living features of an ecosystem
What are some examples of abiotic conditions?
Temperature
Soil
What is a habitat?
The place where an organism lives within an ecosystem
What is a niche?
The role of an organism in a habitat
What are biotic interactions with a niche?
The organisms it eats and what its eaten by
What are abiotic interactions with a niche?
The temperature range an organism can live in, the time of day when its active
What is an adaptation?
A feature that members of a species have that increase their chance of survival and reproduction
What is natural selection?
The frequency of advantageous alleles increasing over time due to increased chances of survival, meaning the adaptations become more common
