To fix video problems quickly, you should divide video problems into what 2 groups?

What is a dead pixel?
a pixel that never lights up
What is a lit pixel?
a pixel stuck on pure white
What is a stuck pixel?
a pixel stuck on a certain color
What are artifacts?
strange symbols or pixel patterns
What might an incompatible driver trigger?
BSoD
(then you’d restart into Safe Mode and fix driver issue by uninstalling)
Why does the vast majority of display problems turn out to be software related?
Because display adapter hardware (video cards, integrated adapters) rarely goes bad
Video cards are pretty durable but have 2 components that go bad. What are they?
- The fan
- The RAM
(if either go out, they show the same error of bizarre screen outputs and display freeze)
If you start getting a display issue, what should you do first?
Reboot into Safe Mode to see if the problem clears up and if it does, it’s not a hardware problem
