What is resolution?
the number of horizontal and vertical pixels that make up the display
What is refresh rate?
the number of times per second the computer sends updated video data to the display
Low refresh rates can cause what? On what type of monitors?
Can cause flickering on CRTs but not an issue on LCDs
What is an interlaced refresh rate?
each refresh acts on every other line (requires less processing and can speed up displays that share main RAM pool)
What does bit depth mean?
the same as color depth (can’t change it in modern Windows)
What 3 things define the display mode?
- bit/color depth
- resolution
- refresh rate
What is ClearType?
a Windows feature that is designed to improve the look of text in some apps when you adjust the scaling for text/icons
