Lecture1: Cerebellum Flashcards
What is the Fissure on the Posterior surface of the cerebellum?
Fissura Prima, a V shape
What are the 2 fissures on the Inferior surface?
Fissura seccunda, and posterolateral fissure
What is the function of the anterior lobe?
Reg of muscle tone (spinal cord)
What is the function of the posterior lobe?
Coordination of movement (cerebral cortex)
What is the function of the Flocculonodular lobe?
Maintenance of equilibrium (vestibular nuclei)
What does the inferior peduncle arise from?
Medulla
What is the function of the inferior peduncle?
Afterent input to the anterior lobe
Where does the Middle Peduncle arise from?
Pontine nuclei of the pons
What is the function of the middle pednucle?
Projects to the posterior lobe
What fibres are carried through the middle peduncle?
Commissural
What is the origin of the Superior Peduncle?
The dentate nucleus
What is the function of the superior peduncle?
Connects posterior lobe to the midbrain. Efferent pathway
What is the Tonsils origin?
Foramen Magnum
What is the Tonsils’ clinical relevance?
In-case of increased intra cranial pressure, they apply pressure onto the respiratory centres of the medulla, causing insta death
What is the most medial/upward nuclei?
Fastigial nuclei
