Stress
Nonspeicifc response of the human body to any demand made.
-Eustress: good type of stress
- Distress: bad type of stress
Problem focused coping
coping directed at managing or altering a problem.
Emotion focused coping
Reducing the emotional reponse to a problem.
Strain
reaction or response to a stressor (burnout, anxiety physiological consequences.)
Burnout
extreme state of psychological strain result from prolonged response to chronic stress.
Maslach Burnout inventory
Self-report measure includes three burnout dimensions.
What are the physiological causes of stress?
1-Cardiovasciular,gastrointestinal, biochemical
Emotional labour
Rehulation of one’s emotion’s to meet job or organisational demands.
1-Surface acting
2- Deep acting
Challnge related stressors
although it’s stressfull you gain something from it.
Hindrance-related stressor
stressfull and limit or interfere with an individuals’s work achievement.
Hardiness
set of personality characters that provide resistance to stress.
Primary prevention strategy
eliminating the stressor in the work environment.
Secondary stress prevention strategy
modifying the responses to inevitable demands.
-Cognitive restricting: change the perception
- Stress management training
- progressive muscle relaxation
- Biofeedback: teaches to control heart rate etc.
Tertiary prevention strategy
healing the negative effects of the stressor.
-Employee Asistance programs: provide counseling to adress workplace.
Frustration-agression hypothesis
Frustration leads to agression
The justice hypothesis
violet acts can be understood as reactions by an employee to perceived injustice.
Mobbing
situation which target is selected by a group of people rather than an individual.
