Happiness
The degree to which an individual judges the overall quality of her life favorably.
Work engagement
Positive fulfilling work-related state of mind characterized by vigorous,didcation, absorption.
Hawthorne effect
1-The key insight was that productivity increased simply because workers knew they were being observed, not due to the actual physical changes.
Facet satisfaction- Overall satisfaction
1-Facet satisfaction: measures satisfaction in specific aspects of work.
2-Overall satisfaction: Combining satsifaction levels in different areas.
Job Descriptive Index (JDI)
Specialized tool for assessing job satisfaction.
1- 5 domains: work itself, supervision, people, pay, promotion.
2- 72 items
Disadvantages: Work category is vague, too many items.
Minessotta Satisfaction Questionnaire
- Alternative and a shorter version of JDI. Measures detailed with fewer questions.
1-Extrinsic Satisfaction: aspects related external to job tasks ( pay, benefits)
2- Intrinsic satisfaction: nature of the job, achievement, ones ability.
What are the 3 elements in organizational commitement?
1-Acceptence and belief in organization’s value.
2- Willingness to exert effort
3- Stron desire to remain in the organization
Hobo-syndrome
a pattern where an individual frequently changes jobs, seeking new experiences or avodiign long-term commitement.
Moods?
Broad, lasting emotional states.
Emotions
Acute, inetnse responses to particular situations or stimuli.

Self-esteem
Overall value one places on oneself as a person.

1-Work withdrawal: lateness and absenteeism.
2-Job withdrawal: severe actions such as quit or retire.

accomplshing work tasks from a distant location such as home. Allows work flexibility.
Psychological contract
Unwritten expectation and obligations between employee and employer

self-initiated changes that employees make to their jobs
