Perception development in adolescents
Increased capacity to see detail and two objects in ambiguous pictures due to increased flexibility and selective attention or increased knowledge of ambiguity
Adolescents with ASD regarding perception
More attention to detail but worse at recognizing two objects in ambiguous pictures
Borderline intellectual disability
Decreased selective attention and slow reaction time because struggle with attention
Flanker task
To measure selective attention.
Participants need to focus on the central arrow which is surrounded by other arrows
Encoding switch hypothesis
Young kids focus more on details in faces and older children look more at the configuration
