Leading Projects and People Flashcards
• You mention in your submission you have had to adapt your style to due covid in relation to your buddy up system. What was your management style pre-covid, and why did you have to adapt.
My management style precovid I would say is laize faire where as post covid because there were less face to face catch ups in the office it was more affiliative as I needed to be checking in more often communicating more regualrly. Or transformational
• Further to this above, how did you manage your clients during the pandemic in terms of maintaining service delivery?
Ensured we set up regular touch points now we weren’t meeting in the office or face to face.
• You also talk about supportive tools within your organisation. What were these? And why are they important to be aware of.
We have free mental health services, a buddy up system outside your team
• On your project westbury park, you talk about your client wanting meetings face to face. Why was this and what advise did you provide your client in term of pros/cons to face to face meetings?
May not arrive to a conclusion fast as can discuss other items not relevant when face to face, also more time consuming as have to take into account the travel time there and back. Easier over teams to keep the agenda on screen to keep the meeting on track
• You talk about different leadership styles. What is your and why would it be different to that of a partner or project director
I would say mine is a mixture between affiliative and laize faire – when the team is full of highly skilled members and its more laise faire and then affiliative when the start of the project as it focuses on good comms, continuous feedback, and encourages creativity
• As a PM, do you think an aggressive leadership style is beneficial to leading teams and people?
No I think being aggressive can have a negative impact on a team
• Please tell me about Blanchards situational leadership
No leadership style is the best – depending on the task and the situation/what needs completing that’s when you decide which leadership style to adopt – delegating, participating, telling and selling
• Difference between a manager and a leader
Manager delegates day to day responsibilities
Leader is more overarching over a whole vision and direction of a organisation
