What happened to Hagia Sophia later on?
The Muslims took the area over, and the building became a Mosque from a Church.
Why do some Historians say that the Hagia Sophia survived because of it’s conversion.

A painting style in which wax is used to convey color.

It uses Encaustic Painting and has a classicizing style adapted from Rome.

The painting looks flat at first sight but does actually have some depth, and the painting draws the eyes to look inward and upward towards the hands of God.
