What is a Monastary?
A community of male or female monks devoted to religious practices.
What is a Monk?
A type of priest that prays for other people.
What are the Four Noble Truths?
Life is suffering, the cause of suffering is desire, desire must be overcome, when desire is gone there is no more suffering
What are the three types of Buddhist architecture?
The stupa, the vihara, and the chaitya.
What is the Stupa?
The first significant Buddhist architecture style, it was made as a grave for the Buddha.
What is the Vihara?
A buddhist style used for monasteries that contained residence halls.
What is the Chaitya?
A style used for an assembly hall that contained an empty stupa.
Why is Ashoka important in Buddhism?
He was the first King to embrace the religion.
How was Buddhism practiced?
The Buddha never wanted himself to be worshipped, he wanted priests to focus mainly on the Four Truths. He was also rarely depicted.
