Landing Gear / Brake Flashcards
Describe gear and brakes
Electrically controlled, hydraulically operated, powered by # 2 system, PTU backup, steerable nose gear, anti skid main brakes (powered by #1 system)
Which way does the landing gear retract?
main gear - aft
nose gear - forward
How many gear pins?
5
Describe gear door
all have hydraulic section (closes after actuation)
other section is mechanically linked
When will the gear horn operate
flaps greater than 8.5
torque on either engine less than 50% and both power levers are aft of the rating detent
and gear is not down and locked or
when airspeed is less than 156 and both power levers are near the flight idle gate
When will the alt gear ext be accomplished
ldg gear inop caution light
gear fails to extend normally
one main gear is safe, one is unsafe and gear handle amber lights are on
loss of hyd fluid in the #2 system
Opening the gear alt release door does what
opens bypass valve which send hyd fluid (2) back to reservoir and
removes hyd pressure on the landing gear uplocks
Anti skid is available above what speed
10 kts
avail after a five second weight on wheels signal or 35 kts wheel speed, whichever occurs first
Range of nosewheel steering
70 degrees regular
120 free castor
8 degrees with rudder pedals
When would you use differential braking?
nosewheel exceeds 70 degrees with steering selected on
steering control unit fails
steering switch is selected off
nose wheel steering caution comes on
scu fails with steering on
nosewheel exceeds 70 with steering on
nosewheel steering tiller is moved within 8 seconds
