Fuel Flashcards
Three sections of fuel tank?
Surge (venting), Main (storage), Collector (supply)
How many scavenge pumps?
Outboard, Mid-Wing, Aft, Forward
What pump feeds FMU?
Primary ejector pump, or auxiliary pump
Surge bay location?
Between two ribs inboard of aileron, used for main tank venting and fuel recovery
How does fuel get from the surge to the main tank?
reduced pressure caused by fuel usage
What do NACA vents do?
Take in ram air in flight to provide tank pressurization and venting
What do flapper valves do?
Let fuel into collector tank but not out.
Low fuel light comes on when?
305 lbs in collector bay
How many pumps in collector bay?
Primary Venturi type
Auxilary Pump
What is the purpose of the tank aux pump?
Used as backup pump for the primary ejector pump and is selected on to correct low fuel pressure to FMU
What type of pumps are the FMU?
engine driven pumps
How many fuel probes?
9 probes per wing
When does the tank aux pump come on automatically
fueling or transferring
What is a magnastick
they provide an alternate means of determine fuel quantity should a master fuel quantity gauge be inoperative
Where is the temp sensor?
in the left collector bay
