Autoflight/Flight Controls Flashcards
Are both Flight Guidance Modules required for autoflight?
Yes, but 1 can provide FD
The AP Pitch Trim function operates at two speeds:
High speed for CAS below 180 knots
Low speed for CAS above 180 knots
FCECU stands for
Flight control electronic control unit, single unit with two channels
How many PCUs control each elevator?
3 power control units per elevator, 6 total
What hydraulic systems power which PCU?
1 outer
2 center
3 inboard
What is the purpose of the overload bungee in the elevator?
They will break to ensure that PCU does not jam the elevator
What gives the elevator gust protection?
3 hydraulic compensator keeps elevator locked
How does the FCECU control trim rate
Based on airspeed
What will cause an elevator asymmetry?
Position disagreement of 5 degrees below 180 kts or 1.5 degrees above 181 kts between left and right elevator surfaces
What gives you an elevator feel caution light?
position disagreement between left and right pfu’s
Total travel of rudder
18 degrees on fore section
36 degrees on aft section
Where are the rudder PCU’s located?
PCU 1 lower
PCU 2 upper
Describe the rudder system
mechanically activated, hydraulically actuated, does not have two independent sides, has two PCUs in tail
Is rudder travel mechanically limited?
Rudder travel is mechanically limited (approx 12 degrees left or right) when flap selector is in the zero degree detent (24 degrees for aft section of rudder)
Is the rudder feel and trim unit controlled by the FCECU?
No, its a mechanical spring
