24 Hour Checks Flashcards
Engine Fire Detection Test
Select the fire detection test switch to ENGINE 1 for a minimum of 1 second and ensure that:
- FUEL OFF handle FIRE advisory light illuminates
- FAULT A and FAULT B advisory lights illuminate, the engine FIRE WARNING TONE sounds, the CHECK FIRE DETECT, ENGINE FIRE and MASTER WARNING lights illuminate (flashing)
- Press the ENGINE FIRE light and check that the ENGINE FIRE lights stop flashing and the fire warning tone is silenced
- Repeat the test for the No. 2 engine system
Aft Baggage Smoke Detectors Test
Select the AFT BAGGAGE smoke detector test switch to TEST 1. Note the Master warning tone and observe the illumination of:
- SMOKE and MASTER WARNING (flashing)
- SMOKE/EXTG, VENT INTL and VENT OUTLET and AFT BTL ARM advisory lights illuminate
- Release the test switch and then repeat the test using the TEST 2 position
NOTE: If the test is unsuccessful, it should be conducted again with the applicable baggage-cargo compartment doors closed
Fwd Baggage Smoke Detector Test
Press the fwd baggage compartment smoke test button and observe the illumination of:
- SMOKE and MASTER WARNING (flashing)
- SMOKE/EXTG and FWD BTL ARM
- Release the test button
Stall Warning Test
For the 1 and 2 stall warning systems:
- Select and hold the STALL WARNING TEST switch
Observe that:
- Stick shaker activates
- STALL SYST FAIL (1 or 2 as appropriate) and PUSHER SYST FAIL caution lights illuminate
- STALL SYST FAIL (1 or 2 as appropriate) and PUSHER SYST FAIL caution lights go out and stick shaker off
NOTE: Hold the test switch a minimum of 10 seconds
ADC Test
- EFIS ADC SOURCE NORM check ALT FAIL, IAS FAIL, and IVSI FAIL flags are out on both PFDs and valid SAT is displayed on ED.
- Hold ADC test switch at TEST 1 and check:
- Barometric altitude changes to 14,360 ft on PFD 1
- Altimeter changes to 29.23 on PFD 1
- VMO changes to 284 KIAS on PFD 1
- Airspeed indicator displays 285 KIAS in red of PFD 1
- SAT indicates -15C and WTG2 FAIL appears on ED
- IAS, IAS MISMATCH and ALT appears on PFDs
- PITCH TRIM, ELEVATOR FEEL and AVIONICS caution lights illuminate
- The overspeed warning tone activates after 5 sec
NOTE: TCAS FAIL may flash momentarily on PFDs and MFDs
- Release the TEST switch
- Repeat the test ADC 2 and check for the above items except that:
- SAT does not change and WTG1 FAIL message appears on ED
Autofeather Test (Ensure that AUTOFEATHER is OFF)
- Condition levers… FUEL OFF or START & FEATHER
- POWER levers… DISC
- AUTOFEATHER switch… Press
- Check SELECT advisory light illuminates
- Observe the following appear on the ED:
- A/F SELECT
- A/F TEST IN PROG
- Observe the following sequence appears twice on ED:
- UPTRIM appears
- ITT and NH red radials increase
- NTOP changes to MTOP and torque rating and torque bugs increase 10 %
- MTOP changes to NTOP and torque rating and torque bugs decrease 10%
- Observe the following appears on ED:
- A/F TEST PASS
- AUTOFEATHER switch…Press
- Check SELECT advisory out and A/F SELECT message disappears on ED
NOTES: - If autofeather test is aborted, A/F TEST ABORT will appear on ED
- If autofeather test fails, A/F TEST FAILED will appear on ED
- If A/F TEST ABORT appears on ED, repeat the AUTOFEATHER TEST
- The autofeather test may be attempted two times. A second failure will require maintenance prior to dispatch.
Flight Compartment Door Emergency Access Test
- Flight compartment door…Closed and Locked
- Check BAGG DOOR, CKPT DOOR, AUTO UNLK and FAIL advisory lights and INTERNAL DOORS caution light out
- Flight attendant emergency access switch…Momentarily Press
- Check INTERNAL DOORS caution and AUTO UNLK advisory lights illuminate
- Internal Doors Switch…Deny
- Check AUTO UNLK advisory and INTERNAL DOORS caution lights out and flight compartment door closed and locked
Stall Protection System Test
- REF SPEEDS switch select INCR
- Observe [INCR REF SPEED] appears on ED
- REF SPEEDS switch select OFF
- Observe [INCR REF SPEED] not shown on ED
Windshield Heat Test
- WINDSHIELD HEAT selector - NORM
- Check WSHLD CTRL caution light does not illuminate
NOTE: A period of 5 minutes in NORM is required to confirm correct windshield heat operation
- WINDSHIELD HEAT selector - As Required
Airframe Test
- Confirm deice pressure indicator 18+/-3psi
- AIRFRAME MODE selector - FAST
- During one complete cycle (60 sec) check that:
- The WING advisory lights illuminate sequentially in pairs, commencing with the outboard pair and moving inboard, followed by the inboard TAIL then outboard TAIL
NOTE: The sequence of the WING 3rd and 4th advisory lights on the left side is reversed
- The WING advisory lights illuminate sequentially in pairs, commencing with the outboard pair and moving inboard, followed by the inboard TAIL then outboard TAIL
Ice Protection Checks
- The deice pressure indicator needles fluctuate in phase with the indicator lights
- The left and right engine intake boots inflate with the inboard and outboard tail lights
- The cycle recommences after 24 seconds dwell period (1 minute cycle)-then turn the AIRFRAME MODE selector to MANUAL
- AIRFRAME MANUAL selector - Rotate through wing and tail positions and observe WING, TAIL and engine intake advisory lights illuminate as selected
Propeller Test
- Propeller ice protection system normal operation may be tested in flight by observing the following indications during normal operation with the PROP selector in the ON position
- Condition levers at or above MIN
- PROP TEST switch - Hold at TEST (when testing on the ground)
- Check PROPS advisory lights illuminate individually and go out in sequence through one cycle
- The normal operating temperature (green arc) on the Oil Temperature Indicator changes to 65-107C
NOTE: If the PROP TEST switch is released early from the TEST position, wait 30 seconds before repeated the test
- PROP TEST switch Release (when testing on the ground)
- Check that the normal operating temperature (green arc) on the Oil Temperature Indicator changes to 0-107C
Engine Intake Doors Test
- ENGINE INTAKE DOORS - verify open
- Check the doors are open and if the temperature is below 15C the HTR lights are on
NOTE: The HTR Advisory Light may not illuminate if SAT is more than 15C - The following 24 Hour check will be completed after Engine start and prior to flight on the first flight of the day. Complete this procedure prior to the After Start flow and checklist
Rudder Actuator Test
- Prior to the selection of flaps after Engine Start complete the following test:
- Nosewheel Steering…Verify Off
- RUD 1 PUSH OFF switch…Push Off
- Observe illumination of #1 RUD HYD caution light
- Rudder Pedals…Move left and right
- Check PFCS indication on #1 MFD for rudder travel
- RUD 1 PUSH OFF switch…Push On
- Observe #1 RUD HYD caution light
- RUD 2 PUSH OFF switch…Push Off
- Observe illumination of #2 RUD HYD caution light
- Rudder pedals…Move left and right
- Check PFCS indication on #1 MFD for rudder travel
- RUD 2 PUSH OFF switch…Push On
- Observe #2 RUD HYD caution light out
Continue with the Normal After Start flow and checklist
- Observe #2 RUD HYD caution light out
