Landing Gear And Brakes. LGEAR Flashcards
Minimum ground speed for auto brake activation
Minimum grnd speed of 72 knots
What are the controls for Nose Wheel Steering?
- Tiller wheels on Capt and FOs side consoles
- Rudder pedals
- Auto pilot during auto landings
What are the different Anti-Skid braking configurations?
- Normal brakes: with anti skid(Green hydraulic pressure)
- Alternate brakes: with anti skid (yellow hydraulic pressure)
In the event of total BSCU failure OR failure of both Green and Yellow hydraulic systems, Alternate brakes without anti skid is available powered by yellow system accumulator
What’s the meaning of the triangle indications on the ECAM WHEEL page?
(Pic)
- Indicates the position and condition of the landing gear as independently detected by each LGCIU
- The forward set represents the status of the gear as detected by the active LGCIU
- The rear set represents the status of the gear as detected by the standby LGCIU
What are the indications when the landing gear is detected to be down and locked?
(Pic)
- Forward set of triangles on the ECAM WHEEL page appear in green
- Three green triangles appear on the landing gear indicator panel
- LDG GEAR DN blue action step text on the E/WD memo section is no longer displayed, leaving only LDG GEAR DN (green)
What’s the meaning of the red UNLK lights on the LDG GEAR panel?
(Pic)
Indicates that a specific gear is not being detected as being locked in the selected position
What’s the meaning of the illuminated red arrow next to the landing gear selector lever?
(Pic)
- The aircraft is in the landing configuration below 750’ AGL
AND - The landing gear is not down and locked
What’s the operation of GRAVITY GEAR EXTN hand crank?
Pic
- Lift into position, breaking the securing safety wire
2. Rotate clockwise three(3) turns to the mechanical stop
How does the Brake and Steering Control Unit (BSCU) is controlled (powered)?
(Pic)
The BSCU is controlled by the A/SKID and N/W STRG Switch, located on the forward instrument panel, placed to ON
What’s the meaning of the NW STRG DISC indication on the E/WD memo section?
(Pic)
- Nose wheel steering from the flight deck is inhibited because the tow control lever on the nose gear strut has been placed in the TOW position
A. NW STRG DISC - appears in green when
Both engines are shutdown
B. NW STRG DISC - appears in amber when
At least one engine is running - NW STRG DISC is not displayed when the A/SKD and N/W STRG Switch is placed to OFF
What is indicated on the ACCU-PRESS and BRAKES gauge?
Pic
- ACCU-PRESS:
A. Displays Yellow sys
Accumulator pressure
B. Green band represents a fully charged
Accumulator - BRAKES:
A. Displays the amount of Yellow sys
Pressure being applied to the respective
Wheel brakes
B. Green arcs represent the safe pressure
Ranges when anti skid is inoperative - Indications are not associated with the Normal Braking or Green hydraulic system
What’s the location and meaning of brake temperature indications?
(Pic)
- Appears on the ECAM WHEEL page
- Green arc appears over the wheel with hottest brake temperature over 100*C
- Arc turns amber if a brake temperature exceeds 300*C
What’s the meaning of the anti skid indications on the ECAM WHEEL page?
(Pic)
- Horizontal lines (green) appear:
A. When the landing gear is
Lowered to indicate that the
Individual wheel brake is released and
Anti skid is armed
B. At touchdown and rollout as, anti skid
Is being individual applied to a respective
Wheel brake - Wheel numbers (1,2,3, and 4) and the REL indications are continuously displayed
What’s the function of each Autobrake pb selection?
Pic
- LO - commands progressive brake pressure application 4 seconds after the ground spoiler deployment signal has been generated
- MED - command progressive brake pressure application 2 seconds after the ground spoiler deployment signal has been generated
- MAX - commands progressive brake pressure to be immediately applied when the ground spoiler deployment signal is generated
A. MAX selection is only allowed for takeoff
What’s the meaning of the DECEL (green) indication on an AUTO BRK pb?
(Pic)
The aircraft is approaching the selected deceleration rate
