Lab Variables Flashcards
Independent Variable
the variable that an investigator chooses to change during the course of the experiment
Dependent Variable
this variable changes when the independent variable changes. It is what the investigator chooses to measure
Control Variables
variables that the investigator keeps the same to make sure that the test is fair
Anomalous results
“Strange” results that do not seem to fit in with the general pattern of the data
Reliability
The results are the same or similar, no matter how many times you repeat the experiment
Fair Test
Only changing one variable and controlling all other variables in an investigation
Accuracy
using equipment to obtain results which are close to the true or real value as possible
