ABDUCTOR HALLUCIS
O: medial process calcaneal tuberosity, flexor retinaculum, plantar aponeurosis
I: base proximal phalanx great toe, some fibers attached to medial sesamoid bone
A: ABD, assist in flexion MTP joint great toe, assist ADD forefoot
N: medial plantar nerve
ADDUCTOR LONGUS
O: anterior surface pubis at junction of crest & symphysis
I: medial 1/3 medial lip linea aspera
A: ADD & flex hip
N: obturator nerve
ADDUCTOR MAGNUS
O: inferior ramus pubis, ramus ischium (anterior), ischial tuberosity (posterior)
I: medial to gluteal tuberosity, middle linea aspera, medial supracondylar line, adductor tubercle
A: anterior fibers - ADD & assist flexion hip
A: posterior fibers - extend hip
N: obturator & sciatic nerve
ANTERIOR SCALENE
O: TVP C3-C6
I: scalene tubercle & cranial crest 1st rib
A: flex & laterally flex neck, contralaterally rotate, elevate 1st rib
N: ventral rami
BICEPS FEMORIS
O: long head: ischial tuberosity
O: short head: lateral lip linea aspera, proximal 2/3 lateral supracondylar line
I: lateral side head of fibula, lateral condyle tibia
A: flex & laterally rotate knee, long head extends & assists in lateral rotation hip
N: long head - tibial nerve
N: short head - common peroneal nerve
EXTENSOR DIGITORUM LONGUS
O: lateral condyle tibia, proximal 3/4 anterior surface fibula, interosseous membrane
I: by 4 tendons into 2-5 digits
A: extend MTP joints, assist in extending IP joints 2-5 digits, assist dorsiflex ankle & eversion foot
N: deep peroneal nerve
GLUTEUS MAXIMUS
O: posterior gluteal line ilium, iliac crest, lower part of sacrum, side of coccyx
I: IT band & gluteal tuberosity
A: extends & laterally rotates hip, helps stabilize knee in extension
-lower fibers: assist ADD
-upper fibers: assist ABD
N: inferior gluteal nerve
GLUTEUS MEDIUS
O: external surface of ilium between iliac crest & posterior & inferior gluteal lines
I: greater trochanter of femur
A: ABD hip joint
-anterior fibers: medially rotate & may assist flexion hip
-posteiror fibers: laterally rotate & may assist flexion hip
N: superior gluteal nerve
GLUTEUS MINIMUS
O: external surface of ilium between anterior & inferior gluteal lines, margin of greater sciatic notch
I: greater trochanter of femur
A: ABD, medially rotates, assist in flexion hip
N: superior gluteal nerve
GRACILIS
O: inferior 1/2 pubic symphysis, inferior ramus pubis
I: Pes Anserine of tibia
A: ADD, flex & medially rotate knee
N: obturator nerve
PIRIFORMIS
O: pelvic surface of sacrum close to S1-S4 sacral foramina, margin of greater sciatic foramen
I: greater trochanter of femur
A: lateral rotation hip, ABD thigh when hip is flexed
N: nerve to piriformis
PSOAS MAJOR
O: TVP L1-L5, sides of bodies, discs T12-L5
I: lesser trochanter of femur
A: flexion & lateral rotation hip, flexion & lateral rotation trunk, anterior pelvic tilt
N: lumbar plexus
RECTUS FEMORIS
O: AIIS, groove above rim of acetabulum
I: proximal border patella, through patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity
A: extend knee, flex hip
N: femoral nerve
SARTORIUS
O: ASIS
I: Pes Anserine of tibia
A: flexion & lateral rotation of hip, flex & assist in medial rotation knee
N: femoral nerve
SEMITENDINOSUS
O: ischial tuberosity
I: Pes Anserine of tibia
A: flex & medially rotate knee, extend & assist in medial rotation hip
N: tibial nerve
