Q

What is reactive strength?

A

The combination of eccentric and concentric strength. The athlete must overcome negative momentum before reversing the movement to generate force in a positive direction.

Q

What is muscle activity principle 3?

A
  • Mechanical force is non-linear over muscle range of length
  • Isotonic (uniform) muscle force does not exist in human movement

Q

What is muscle activity principle 4?

A
  • Not all muscle actions involve contraction

(Eccentric movement still involves muscle action, but it is not a contraction)

Q

What is muscle activity principle 5?

A

Isokinetic= Constant rate of movement

(Does not occur in sports skills, sport skills are complex and nonlinear)
