*Origin- Superior to acetabulum, AIIS
*Insertion- quadriceps tendon, base of patella – tibial tuberosiy via patella ligament
*Action- Extends knee, flexes hip
*Nerve- Femoral nerve

vastus lateralis

A

*Origin- intertrochanteric line, greater trochanter, lateral lip linea aspera
*Insertion- quadriceps tendon, lateral border of patella – tibial tuberosity
via patella tendon
*Action- Extends the knee
joint
*Nerve- Femoral nerve

A

*Origin- lower part intertrochanteric line, medial lip of the linea aspera
*Insertion- quadriceps tendon, medial border of patella – tibial tuberosity via patella tendon
*Action- Extends the knee joint
*Nerve- Femoral nerve

*Origin- Upper 2/3 anterior and lateral surfaces of femur
*Insertion quadriceps tendon, base of patella – tibial tuberosity via patella tendon
*Action- Extends the knee

*Insertion- Medial surface of tibial shaft (Pes anserinus)

>LH -lower medial facet of the ischial tuberosity & sacrotuberous ligament
>SH – linea aspera of femur
*Insertion- LH & SH insert onto the head of the fibular
*Action- flexes knee, extends hip
*Nerve- sciatic nerve

A

*Origin- Lower medial facet of the Ischial tuberosity
*Insertion- Attaches to medial tibial condyle (pes anserinus attachment)
*Action- Flexes leg at knee joint and extends thigh at hip joint
*Nerve- Tibial nerve from Sciaitc nerve

*Insertion- Posteromedial surface of medial tibial condyle
*Action- Flexes knee, extends hip
*Nerve- tibial nerve from sciaitic nerve

*Insertion- Proximal posterior aspect of tibia
*Action- Flexes knee and medially rotates tibia (screw home mechanism)
