*Insertion- Lesser trochanter via IP tendon

*Origin- Posterior gluteal line
Posterior surface of sacrum and coccyx Sacrotuberous ligament
*Insertion- iliotibial tract, Gluteal tuberosity of femur
*Action- Hip extension, Hip lateral rotation
*Nerve supply- Inferior gluteal nerve L5,S1,S2

A

*Origin- Outer aspect of ilium between iliac crest and anterior/posterior gluteal lines, Upper fascia (aponeurosis)
*Insertion- Superior aspect of greater trochanter
*Actions- hip abduction, Medial hip rotation, Stabilises pelvis during gait
*Nerve Supply- Superior Gluteal Nerve L4,5,S1

*Insertion- Passes through greater sciatic notch, Trochanteric fossa, medial side of Greater Trochanter

*Insertion- Anterior aspect of ilio-tibial tract below greater trochanter

*Insertion- Medial lip of Linea Aspera on middle half of femur

*Nerve Supply- Obturator nerve L2,3,4 & Tibial nerve of sciatic bundle L4,5
