Why is Amir a theif, a snake in the grass and the monster in the lake and why does he say he loved Hassan more than anyone when he is confessing?

A

He says this because Hassan admitted to stealing Amir’s gifts because he knew if he didn’t Baba would blame Amir for it and Amir would lose the only thing he ever wanted. Amir is a theif because he is robbing Hassan and Ali of their life and a snake and the monster because he is secretly dragging down Hassan.
