When Moses was born, what was happening to the Israelites?
They were being enslaved in Egypt.
In Exodus what did the Pharaoh order?
He ordered for all baby boys born to Israelite families to be killed.
What did Moses’ mother do to protect him?
She placed him in the River Nile in a basket. He was rescued by the Pharaoh’s daughter.
When he was an adult, why did Moses flee Egypt?
He was wanted by the Pharaoh for killing an Egyptian man he had seen beating a Jewish slave.
What happened to Moses whilst he was exiled?
God spoke to him through and burning bush and explained to him that he had been chosen to rescue the Jewish people and help the reach the Promised Land.
What happened when Pharaoh refused Moses’ request to go to the Promised Land?
God afflicted Egypt with a series of 10 plagues, each worse than the last. Pharaoh finally agreed to free the Israelites.
What did God do when Pharaoh pursued the Jews with his army?
He made the sea into dry land and the water parted, allowing the Israelites to escape to freedom.
What did God give Moses at the top of Mount Sinai?
The Torah, as well as 2 stone tablets engraved with 10 laws. These laws are known as the 10 commandments.
Why is the Covenant at Sinai greatly significant?
It provides guidelines for how to live and sets up a special relationship between God and the Jewish people.
