What do Jews remember during Pesach?
They remember an important part of their history. How G-d chose Moses to free the Jewish people and lead them to the Promised Land.
What was the tenth plague?
For the firstborn son of every Egyptian family to be killed. (Jewish families were spared)
How long does Pesach last for?
7 to 8 days
What is Leaven?
Raising agents such as yeast
What do Jews do before Pesach begins?
They remove all raising agents from their homes as well as all foods which are made from grains which can rise.
What does the youngest person at the table do at the table?
They ask the oldest person at the table 4 questions about Passover.
What is eaten on the first night of Passover?
A Seder meal
Why do the Jews eat Matzo (unleavened bread?)
As a reminder that the Israelites fled Egypt so quickly that there was no time for their bread to rise
Why are vegetables dipped in salt water before being eaten?
To symbolise the tears that the Israelites cried while they were enslaved.
Why is red wine served?
To represent the lamb’s blood that was smeared over the Jewish doorways.
