3 types of placenta previa?
Total - placenta completely covers the os-cervix
Partial - placenta partially covers the os
Marginal - placenta is implanted near the neck of the cervix
What is the hallmark sign of placenta previa?
Third trimester vaginal bleeding that is painless
What is abruptio placentae?
Abnormal separation of the placenta from the uterine wall
2 types of abruptio placentae?
Complete - placenta completely separates from the uterine wall - 100% fetal mortality rate
Partial - placenta is partially separate from the uterine wall - 30 to 60 percent mortality rate
