Absorbent, oral poisoning
Dose and administration of activated charcoal
Adult and children 1 g per 1 kg of body weight
Orally with liquid or thru nasal tube into stomach
Contraindications for activated charcoal
Has swallowed acids or alkaloids
Unable to swallow
Mechanism of action for albuterol
Beta 2 agonist, bronchodilator, sympathomimetic
Indications for albuterol
Breathing difficulty, asthma, COPD
Dose and administration of albuterol
Adults - 5 mg
Peds - 2.5 mg
Through nebulizer with oxygen at 6 - 8 lpm
Precautions for albuterol
Heart defect, cardiovascular disorder, beta blockers
Contra indicators for albuterol
Patient not responsive enough to use MDI or SVN
Already taken the maximum allowed dose
Tachycardia
Mechanism of action for aspirin
Anti inflammatory
Anti plate able
Indications for aspirin
Chest discomfort, angina, MI
Dose and administration of aspirin
160-325 mg (4 baby tablets)
Be sure patient is alert and oriented, chew and swallow
Chewing not recommended for peds
Contraindications for aspirin
Allergic to drugs, recent stroke, bleeding or ulcers
Precautions for aspirin
NSAIDS - non steroid anti inflammatory drugs
Mechanism of action for nitro glycerine
Vasodilator, relieves tension on vascular muscles
Indications for nitro glycerine
Chest pain, angina, CHF, hypertension, hypotension
