Allah
5 Pillars or Beliefs
- Shahadah (Profession of faith): They recite “There is no God but God, and Muhammed. And Muhammed is the messenger of God.
- Salaht (prayer): They face Mecca towards the east, micmicking when Daniel faced Jerusalem to pray. They go to a Mosque to pray. An IMAM lead them in prayer.
They pray 5 times a day
a. Dawn
b. Noon
C.Midafternoon
d. Sunset
e. Dark
- Shum (fasting): Ramadan is the holy month to fast, pray, reflect, and commune. Stop fasting at the end of the day with a prayer and meal called Iftar
- Divine Decree: Believe that God Allah has created the laws of nature and religion. Every matter has been decreed by God.
- Prophets: God delivered guidance to humanity through the prophets.
Ramadan
To commemorate the first revelation of the quran.
Iftar
A meal eaten after sunset during Ramadan. Consists of dates, water, fruits.

The Sufi: Mystics, not as devote
The writings of Islam
Quran: Revealed to Muhammed by the angel Gabriel. Affirms the Torah, psalms, and gospels but blames Christians that they disturbed the original text.
Islam in regards to Salvation
Humans are good but fallible and need guidance.
There’s a balance between good and bad.
Their deeds determine their destiny between paradise and hall.
One should fear Allah and judgement day
What does Jihad mean
Jihad: in Arabic it means fight
Believe in 2 Fighting Perspectives
- Spiritual: you fight the desire in your spirit between doing good or bad
- Literal: warfare
