a state of wellbeing in which every individual realises their own potential, can cope with the normal stressors of life, can work productively and fruitfully within their own community and is able to make contribution

what are the disadvantages of using the DSM V
oversimplifies human behaviour, increases risk of misdiagnosis or over diagnosis, provides labels to a person that can be stigmatising
describe the diathesis-stress model
a hypothesis that both an inherited tendancy and specific stressful conditions are required to produce mental disorder.
suggesting that some level of predisposition is needed plus some degree of specific stress, both are needed just in varying levels for each person.
