building blocks of resilience :
1 —:
There is evidence of some degree of heritability, e.g.:
How you react to stress? – nature (heritability) versus nurture (how you learned through family/environmental experiences)
2 —-:
How good are you at understanding what’s going on internally, e.g.: How do you feel right now?
Are your behaviours helping you or harming you?
3 —– :
How good are you are regulating your emotions, e.g.: Can you regulate your fight or flight response in difficult situations?
Can you self-regulate in order to reach your goals? – e.g., is procrastination a challenge for you?
4 —-:
Can you look at a situation from multiple vantage points? Can you identify not only problems but also solutions?
5- —-
Described as the engine of resilience.
Glass half-full rather than half-empty; belief in a positive future, e.g.:
What can I control in a situation and what do I need to accept? Identifying situation as a challenge and not a threat
6 —-
Awareness of own capability, e.g.:
I can master my environment; belief in your ability to complete a task or to achieve a goal
7 —–
Focus on social connections as important sources of resilience, e.g.: Do I have people or one person in my life that I can totally rely on? Spiritual connections beyond yourself to nature or faith; a sense that you are part of something bigger

Q

summary of signature character strengths:

A

-The goal is not that we have all 24 equally strong character strengths
-The goal is to be aware of which of these are personally most dominant and how you can leverage these strengths fully to create the life you want to live, and to support your resilience
-It does not mean that you are unable to develop strengths that are less strong for you, or that you are unable to use them or access those aspects of your character.
-It does mean that those aspects of your character are not as dominant, not as comfortable as the ones that are your signature character strengths.
-We all have signature character strengths as well as character strengths that are less dominant.
