Intro to Learning (4) Flashcards
What is higher order conditioning?
Classical conditioning occurs on a new UCS that will be paired with the current CS
What is sensory preconditioning?
CR occurs to another stimulus that is already associated to the current CS
What is latent learning?
Learning that occurs despite lack of an observable demonstration.
What is overshadowing?
one of the stimuli in a compound is more salient than the other and becomes more likely to be condtitioned
What is latent inhibition?
familiar stimulus is less likely to be conditioned.
What does the rescorla wagner model state?
each US can only have a certain limit of conditioning, associative value has to be distributed.
What is blocking?
presence of an established CS prevents conditioning of a new NS
According to the rescorla wagner model, what happens in overshadowing?
when one stimulus is more noticeable than the other, it takes a higher associative value meaning the other stimulus is not conditioned.
According to the rescorla wagner model, what happens in blocking?
If one stimulus is already conditioned, it has taken all the associative value leaving nothing for a new stimulus.
According to the rescorla wagner model, what occurs in a learning curve?
Even after conditioning, at some point the strength of conditioning reaches a max point, where the associative value can go no higher.
