Dx Entamoeba histolytica Ag or PCR.
Tx with 10 days of Flagyl.

Answer 3

Dx indirect hemagglutination (*IHA) titer for E. granulosus and ELISA for E. multilocularis.
Tx with antihelminthics. Excise if sx-ic or secondarily infected. Epi if anaphylaxis.

1. biliary obstruction (stone vs malignancy) - E. coli
2. diverticulitis, IBD, perf appy - polymicrobial usually
