Horizontal bitewing
A
shows posterior teeth in occlusion, + is taken to view:
- interproximal areas + to diagnose caries in these regions
- restorative overhangs in these areas
- recurrent caries beneath existing restorations
- occlusal caries

A
shows extended view of posterior teeth, from mid-root of uppers to mid-root of the lowers as a minimum + taken to view:
- periodontal bone levels of posterior teeth
- true periodontal pockets

A
shows one or two teeth in full length with surrounding bone, + is taken to view the area + teeth in close detail

Anterior occlusal
A
shows plane view of anterior section of either the mandible or maxilla, + is used to especially view the area for unerupted teeth, supernumerary teeth + cysts
