Social Releasers

A

Babies are born with the ability to cry and smile, these emotions are called social releasers as they encourage care giving responses from adults as they are incapable of caring for themselves and do not yet have the abilty to otherwise communicate their needs

An Ability to Learn

A

research suggests that babies have the ability to learn even before birth
eg. Babies are able to distinguish between their mother’s voice and another woman within the few after straight after birth, suggesting that they learnt to recognise the mother’s voice whilst in the womb

A

Contingency response= Stimulation that quickly follows from an action of their own

Babies learnt to increase their pillow movements in order to trigger stimulation from the mobile
