Injury Flashcards

1
Q

How does warming up/cooling down prevent injury?

A

Warming up helps prepare the muscles for a workout and also stretches them so they don’t snap suddenly. The Cool down helps return the body temperature back down to normal and heart and breathing rate. It also disposed of lactic acid.

Q

What does Ice do?

A

It reduces swelling and helps stop bleeding (heat has opposite effect)

17
Q

What does Compression do?

A

Applying pressure to the area to stop bleeding

18
Q

What is Elevation?

A

Raising the injured area above the rest of the body to reduce swelling
