Managed expectantly

Immediate referral to hospital for potential removal under endoscopy
Where do objects most commonly impact upon ingestion?
Oesophagus - narrowest part of the GI tract
What is advised if a battery becomes lodged in the oesophagus and why?
Removal
- to avoid small chance of oesophageal perforation
How do chances of impact change once the object passes the oesophagus?
Once object has passed into the stomach, the chances of impaction are low
